Temperatures soared dramatically  over the weekend.

So who got sunburnt?

Of course you can reach for an after-sun cream from your local chemist’s to soothe your damaged skin.

Or you can massage in some homemade calendula-infused balm (see recipe here).

Here’s another homemade solution to calm the fire, using in-season melon.

Melon is rich in vitamins A, B1, B3, B6, B9 and E. It also has a refreshing action on the skin.

You will need: 2 tbs milk, 1 tbs yellow/orange melon flesh, 1 tsp almond oil.

Method: Whizz all the ingredients together in a food processor, then apply the paste to sunburnt areas. Leave for 20 mins then rinse off.

If you’ve already eaten your melon for lunch/dinner, rub the inside of the skins on the sunburnt areas for an instant cooling effect.

And next time DON’T FORGET THE SUNCREAM!
