In France (where I live) you can get jasmine absolute (similar to essential oil) online from It’s expensive (15€ for 2ml) but highly concentrated so it will last for ages as you only need a drop or two.

How to de-stress and regain calm 2

Following on from an earlier post, here are some more easy tips to help you feel more in control of your life.

Stand back to gain perspective

When the pressure is on, take a deep breath and stand back from the situation? Yes, it’s bad right now but ask yourself  “Will this matter in six months? Or five years?”  The answer is very rarely “Yes”.

Be aware of your body

Your body is the best barometer of your psychological state. Tension in your shoulders or head is a physical giveaway of the pictures you’re making in your mind. To pre-empt mental stress, become aware of how your body is feeling.

Deliberately relax your jaw, shoulders and neck, then make your mental pictures positive. You’ll feel the difference.

Overwhelmed? Do the right thing, right now

When you feel overwhelmed with too much to do, try and identify the one thing that is causing you most stress, such as an awkward phone call you need to make, and then actually do it. You will feel much better and feel less stressed.


A night-time facial massage

Here’s a final mini-massage routine from the Femina article I spoke to you about in earlier posts (A massage for around the eyes and Facial massage is good for you).

This is one to incorporate into your night-time routine.

After removing make-up, try these movements to tone up your facial muscles:

1. Smooth your face by placing the fingertips flat against the jaw and pushing upwards to the middle of the forehead, lifting the skin slightly as you go.

2. To release tension in the face, pinch the skin lightly with the tips of the index and thumb. This needs to be brisk  and symmetrical (both hands at the same time).

To finish, place the palms of your hands around your neck and smooth downwards to improve drainage.
